Style and Voice
CEU4U requires the utmost professionalism in all our online material. We do have certain restrictions on style and content. Please use either Times New Roman or Ariel font. Double space and number your pages. We require all courses be written in either Modern Language Association (MLA) or American Psychological Association (APA) format. We defer to the most current edition of the Chicago Manual of Style for proper presentation of written content. At the same time, feel free to give it your voice. Be creative in how you "package" your content.
Learners tire of the same thing over and over again! We will be happy to assist you in formatting creative approaches. Case studies are good ways to approach clinical topics, as are clinical presentation techniques. Write to one of three levels of difficulty: 1) Basic, 2) Intermediate, or 3) Advanced. When possible, choose the common word over the complex; impress us with your ability to get your message across, rather than your vocabulary.
What to Include
- Behavioral Objectives (2-3 for each continuing education hour are usually adequate)
- Content (approximately 10-12 typewritten, double-spaced, pages for a 3 contact-hour selection, and 15-20 for a 5 contact-hour selection)
- Please let us know in advanced if you are submitting any charts, graphs, figures, or tables that need to be scanned.
- References
- A test of 20-25 questions for a 3-continuing education hour submission
- An answer key with justification for the correct answer
- A brief, author biographical sketch
- Permission for previously published work (if applicable)
We prefer that you send us your work when everything is completed. All submissions are reviewed for completeness. Contributors are notified within 10 days after submission whether or not their work has been accepted.
Before you begin preparing your educational selection, please review the following sample format. Because all selections are submitted for continuing education hours, specific elements must be contained in each packet you send us. As you review the following guidelines, please keep in mind that they will help you put your expertise in the most accessible and educationally sound format possible.
Each selection you send us must contain the following:
- Learner Objectives stated in behavioral terms
- Main Content
- Evaluation Questions
References
Each educational selection should contain a bibliography or reference list. Any material cited in your content should be followed by the original citation in the bibliography. Helpful references for learners interested in reading more about the topic should be included here. Keep references and citations to a minimum; for a 3.0 contact-hour selection, five to twelve references should suffice.

- Journal Article (MLA): Hohl, D. "Patient satisfaction in home care/hospice." Nursing Management 1994:25(l):52-4. (APA)
